These two were probably my favorite photos because of the frame of the waterfall, giving them the feeling of the grandeur of the water. In addition, the first photo has a rainbow at the bottom, and the second photo has traces of the same rainbow pattern with the oil filter. By applying the oil painting filter, it makes the scene more serene and calm. It's as if it was coming from a paradise. I also applied a pointillize layer to make the texture more grainy, which is realistic in an actual oil painting.
These photos were taken on a bridge on the way to Yosemite national park. When I first took these, I did not see the rainbow at the bottom, however my camera must have caught it. What I love about these is the perspective that makes the river seem as big as the mountain itself. In the second photo, I applied another oil painting filter and pointillize layer. However, this time I adjusted the saturation levels to bring out the oranges, making the photo look like it was taken in the fall, and it's beautiful.
I took these photos on the coast of Torrance, CA. One was facing the shore, one was facing back towards the treelines and sky. After adjusting brightness and contrast, I applied a Claude Monet oil painting to the second photo. The sky of the original photo was initially pink and purple, however through a slight adjustment of the hue, I was able to make it seem more like a sunset. Again, the pointillize layer contributes to the "oil" aspect of the photo.
These photos were taken in a forest in Japan. What I love about these photos is the diversity in feels that they each give. The first photo looks like I am in a jungle, however the second makes it seem like I am in a bamboo plantation. Through a unique perspective, I made the bamboos seem like they extend towards the sky forever, when they are only about 20 feet tall. Applying an oil painting filter, I changed the hue from tan to blue/green. This makes it seem like the bamboos are in a jungle and underwater at the same time, which is a cool effect.
These photos were taken during a sunset in Kenya. What amazes me about these photos is the clarity of the sky. Because Kenya is such an underdeveloped country, everything in the sky including the sun and clouds looks as if you could touch them if you reached out your fingers. The oil filter I applied to the second photo makes it look like the sky is a reverse rainbow color. The pointillize layer obscures the distinction between the ground and sky, blending the two into one harmonious photo.
